Alan Kitching: A Life in Letter Press - Out April 7th
Released by Laurence King Publishers on 7th April, Alan Kitching: A Life in Letterpress is a celebration of a powerful and unique body of work created by the twenty century design pioneer, Alan Kitching, a truly authentic and uncompromising artist.
Kitching’s distinctive prints and powerful artwork are instantly recognisable and have been commissioned by The Guardian, Tate Modern, Dazed & Confused Magazine, The National Theatre, British Library, Penguin Books and Royal Mail amongst many others. When design turned digital in the 1980s, Kitching changed direction. He bought a printing press, printed by hand and breathed life into the arcane world of letterpress, and became an inspirational teacher for a new generation. In a digital world, his artwork and design is more relevant than ever.
Alan Kitching: A Life in Letterpress, includes over 400 prints, a photo essay by Philip Sayer and a biographical monograph and will be published by Laurence King Publishers on 7th April, with an exhibition of Alan’s prints on show at Somerset House opening on April 21st as part of the Pick Me Up Graphic Design Festival.
