Vauxhall Art Car Boot Fair Goes to Hastings, 16th July 2016
Following successful trips to Margate and Folkestone, the Vauxhall Art Car Boot Fair is heading to Hastings, featuring a line-up of stars from the art world. The Vauxhall Art Car Boot Fair is a one-day event, produced originally by curator and art writer Karen Ashton. The artists on the bill include punk poet John Cooper Clarke, Marcus Harvey and Sir Peter Blake, who will all be in attendance selling editions of their work.
In collaboration with Alteria Art, Cooper Clarke has created a silkscreen print with the lyrics of one of his most well known poems, Chicken Town. Pop artist Sir Peter Blake has created a new print based on an existing collage called Hastings Memories, formed of objects he found lying around the fishing boats along the promenade.
Other participating artists include the critically acclaimed illustrator Sir Quentin Blake, Keith Coventry, Rachel Howard and Helen A. Pritchard. The fair aims to allow artists to let their hair down, as well as allowing attendees to engage with art and the artists in an informal way.
