Texas Contemporary Incorporates Art, Music, Dance, Literature & Design for 2016 Programme

Texas Contemporary, Houston's premier modern and contemporary art fair, returns to the George R. Brown Convention Center this September 29th - October 2nd. Texas Contemporary 2016 celebrates the extension of the art fair into the Houston community, with important partnerships forged across the city's most influential cultural institutions. In 2016 Texas Contemporary will broaden the fair's reach across music, dance, literature, and design, working alongside such institutions as the Houston Ballet, leading local literary organizations Inprint and Gulf Coast, and the Houston Symphony to enhance the fair's wide and passionate audience of experienced and dedicated patrons.

Expanding the art fair's longstanding relationships with museums and arts organizations alike, Texas Contemporary's Opening Night Preview will again benefit long-time partner Contemporary Arts Museum Houston. The fair will also renew and develop longstanding partnerships with The Menil Collection, Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, The Asia Society, Lawndale Art Center, Houston Center for Photography, FotoFest, DiverseWorks, and Houston Methodist Hospital, among others.

2016 marks the return of Texas Contemporary's celebrated focus section The Other Mexico, this year featuring five spaces from four different cities including joségarcía ,mx, Páramo, Parallel Oaxaca, Lulu, and FIFI projects.

Produced in partnership with the Mexican Consulate in Houston, the program highlights the city's special ties to the galleries, artists, collectors, and tastemakers of Mexico and Central America.

Also joining the fair's sixty top local, national, and international galleries are New York City's ZIEHERSMITH, Manhattan and Buenos Aires based Henrique Faria Fine Art, and Miami's Spinello Projects, all making their Texas Contemporary debuts this fall. Mexico City's Galeria Enrique Guerrero returns to the fair along with Other Criteria, Frederieke Taylor Gallery, Muriel Guépin Gallery, Walker Waugh, Mindy Solomon Gallery, Galerie Nicolas Robert, JONATHAN FERRARA GALLERY, Joseph Gross Gallery, and ACA Galleries as well as Houston tastemakers Moody Gallery, Inman Gallery, Barbara Davis Gallery, David Shelton Gallery, and Cindy Lisica Gallery.

Houston's top design, architecture, and planning firm, Gensler, will design Texas Contemporary's Lounge. Central to the fair, the transformative design's three pavilions will shift and slide to accommodate special events, museum groups, and the fair's bar and cafe space.

The Four Seasons Hotel Houston is Texas Contemporary's Official Hotel Partner, providing an exclusive package that includes VIP access to the fair as well as special prices on luxury accommodations. Visit Houston in style and stay close to the centre of action, just blocks from the 2016 art fair.
