'Hope' Event Celebrating Amy Winehouse's Life Raises Vital Funds For Foundation
Today would have been Amy Winehouse's birthday, and Zebra One Gallery and the Amy Winehouse Foundation's Hope event last night at Century was a huge success in raising vital funds for the charity and celebrating her life, with an extraordinary exhibition of previously unseen photos and one-off artworks created especially for the night.
Mitch and Janis Winehouse gave an incredibly moving speech to the crowd, before introducing a heart-wrenching film by the Amy Winehouse Foundation, showing how their charity works to prevent the effects of drug and alcohol misuse in young people and help them reach their full potential.
Mitch also urged people to dig deep for Zebra One Gallery's auction, saying: "Thanks so much to Zebra One Gallery for putting this together and these amazing photos and artworks. Phil Knott's photos haven't been seen before. They were taken around the time she made Frank and they capture her so well. This is the fifth anniversary of the foundation - it would have been her 33rd birthday now - and the fantastic work being done for young people in her memory is just incredible. So please dig deep and help more great work to continue."
Mitch bid for the stunning artwork 'Queen of Hearts' (pictured) made by Dan Pearce for the event. He also bid for the powerful image of Amy by Phil Knott, which really touched him and captured the way he thinks of Amy.
People can still bid for the photos and artworks until November, via www.zebraonegallery.com and can view them for the next month at their Hampstead gallery.
