Luminaire Arts Gallery has announced that its launching its new Belgravia gallery space with Debut Exhibition.

The gallery are delighted to exhibit the works of two innovative British artists Frederick Lowis and Gavin Mitchell. This show contemplates two artists’ exploration of colour through image manipulation, appropriation and deconstruction of the gaze..

Gavin Mitchell’s ‘East Meets West’ investigates the framework of human interactions and customs. Initially inspired by vintage Japanese postcards the artist compares the contrived facade to the genuine underbelly of the conflicting cultures. The illustrative playful images are constructed through the use of found imagery, collage and photography. Image of purity in the East disguises fetishism while sexualisation of the West masks the modest and reserved.

Frederick Lowis’s abstracts turns to scrutinizing the layers of his own paintings. He creates his prints through the unusual medium of polyurethane paint and photography. Inspired by the fluidity and movement within nature he uses a selective approach to reveal elaborate images formerly invisible to the naked eye. Contemplating the works resembles peering into a microscope and getting lost in kaleidoscopical colours and celestial compilations.

‘This exhibition challenges the limitations of our perception and embraces playfulness with audacious ambiguity.’ - Curator.

Luminaire Arts Gallery has been set up to discover emerging talent and cultivate it through a close relationship with the artists. The gallery believes in the importance of supporting artists and providing a platform for them to succeed. Through the new Belgravia exhibition space as well as the digital realm the gallery aim to exhibit outstanding art work from around the world. Luminaire Arts Gallery's aim is to encourage dialogue between the public, artist and curator.

Currently with only 8 artists on their website, the gallery is in the process of taking on a number of contemporary artists and outstanding art graduates by the end of November.

The gallery was launched from a successful art consultancy Luminaire Arts, whose client list has included the likes of Claridge’s, Mandarin Oriental London and Crystal Cruises.
